Along the way, you'll master essential backcountry skills like wilderness navigation and camp craft, while strengthening critical thinking, communication, and self-efficacy in a supportive group environment. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or new to backpacking, this trip will leave you with unforgettable memories, lasting friendships, and a newfound appreciation for the great outdoors.

  • Participants will travel as a team, navigating both on- and off-trail routes through the pristine wilderness of Maine. Each day presents new challenges and opportunities for growth as the group learns essential backpacking skills, including navigation, campcraft, and teamwork. Nights will be spent under the stars, sharing stories around a campfire and building bonds that last a lifetime.

  • This program is ideal for male-identifying teens aged 14-17 who are interested in personal growth, outdoor adventure, and building a sense of community. No prior backpacking experience is necessary—just an open mind and a willingness to learn.

    • Explore Healthy Masculinity: Engage in guided discussions and activities that explore the qualities of healthy masculinity, emphasizing emotional intelligence, authenticity, and respect for self and others.

    • Increase Self-Esteem: Build confidence through mastering new skills, overcoming challenges, and reflecting on personal strengths in a supportive environment.

      Friday August 8–Friday August 15

      Drop off: Friday August 8, 8-9 am (lunch is not included - please pack a bag lunch).

      Pick up: Friday August 15th , 12:00- 1:00 PM (lunch is included)

    • Location: Maine’s wilderness 

    • Group Size: 8-10 participants and 2 guides. Group size is limited to respect backcountry ethics and ensure personalized attention and a close-knit group dynamic

    • Gear: A detailed packing list will be provided, and assistance with obtaining gear can be arranged.

    • Price: $1,595

    • Price includes meals, travel, and gear rentals

    • A non-refundable 50% ($797.50) deposit is required to confirm participant registration. Full balance of the program cost is due by July 14, 2025

Meet Your Trip Leaders

  • Tighe has been exploring and adventuring in the mountains for most of his life. In addition to his background in clinical social work, Tighe holds a degree in Outdoor Education from the University of New Hampshire.

    Since 2011, Tighe has led experiential and adventure-based programs for youth and teens, blending his expertise in mental health with his passion for the outdoors. A highly skilled four-season outdoor instructor and trip leader, he brings extensive experience in backcountry expedition leadership, challenge course facilitation, and high-adventure summer camps.

    He has guided educational and therapeutic wilderness expeditions, emphasizing personal growth, teamwork, and outdoor skills. As a Certified Wilderness First Responder, Tighe prioritizes risk management, safety, and preparedness in every adventure. He is deeply committed to Leave No Trace principles, ensuring that every trip fosters a respect for nature and responsible backcountry travel.

    His passion for outdoor education and adventure makes him a trusted leader for teens seeking adventure, connection, and confidence in the wild.

  • Randy is a Colgate University graduate with a Master’s in Education from Rivier College. With over ten years of experience leading outdoor trips and more than 20 years working with youth in both educational and recreational settings, Randy is passionate about using nature to help young people discover their values . He lives in Nottingham, NH, where he enjoys gardening with his wife and two dogs. His love for the outdoors drives him to explore through canoeing, backpacking, rock climbing, and backcountry skiing. Randy is excited to share his outdoor expertise and inspire a new generation of confident adventurers.
